Responsible AI

AI does the groundwork. A human carries the responsibility.

This is our AI policy. It sets out what the agent may do on its own, when a lawyer is required and how we handle errors.

Escalation

When a lawyer takes over.

For every item, the agent assesses whether a lawyer is needed. When in doubt, always.

Question or documentThe agent assessesRisk, uncertainty and whether you use a credit.

How it works

How the policy is enforced.

A policy is only worth something if the system enforces it.

  • Sources and uncertaintyReferences to statutory provisions and case law are checked before an answer reaches you. If the agent is not sure, it says so and the item goes to a lawyer.
  • EscalationFor every item, the agent assesses whether a lawyer is needed. When in doubt, it always goes to a lawyer.
  • LoggingFor every matter we record what the agent did and what the lawyer changed. That audit trail is in development, see the Trust Center.
  • Model choiceFor each task we choose the model that delivers the best work within our requirements for privacy and location.
  • Changing model or providerA new model is first tested on fixed test sets before it is used for client work. If a provider changes, we update the sub-processors.
  • Separated dataThe agent only sees your company's documents. What it learns from your matters, it does not use for anyone else.
  • ErrorsIf a lawyer adjusts the agent's work, we record what and why. If you spot an error, report it. We find out how it happened and put it right.
